[Clinton, N.C.] – On Tuesday, January 14, the Sampson Community College (SCC) Board of Trustees (BOT) reconvened for their quarterly business meeting. As part of the agenda, during the evening, Chuck Spell was officially reappointed to the Board for 2024-2028.
Planning to serve a four-year team, Spell’s return to the Board follows his past appointment from 2015-2019. SCC is governed by a Board of 12 trustees, appointed by the General Assembly and the Sampson County Board of Commissioners. Among their responsibilities, trustees establish policies for SCC to follow, approve the annual budget, and serve as advocates.
Spell brings a wealth of local knowledge to the BOT due to his educational and professional ventures. He’s the current Director of Manufactoring at HOGSLAT, in addition to yielding over twenty years’ experience with Schindler Elevator Cooperation.
A long-time supporter of SCC, Spell also serves on the SCC Foundation Board of Directors—previously holding the title of President. His commitment to community service is evident in his extensive involvement in Sampson County and at SCC.
Dr. Bill Starling, SCC President, voiced, “We are excited about the reappointment of Chuck Spell to our Board of Trustees. Chuck has been a lifelong supporter of SCC both as a trustee and director on the SCC Foundation. He is a recognized community leader who works to support our county’s economic development and the development of our local labor force. In his role as Director of Manufacturing for Hogslat, he narrates countless tours of Hogslat’s production technologies. Our occupational faculty will benefit from his collaboration in our ongoing development of training programs. We are thankful that he has added his role as a trustees to his list of community responsibilities.”
The College is proud to welcome Spell for another term on the BOT. SCC looks forward to his contributions to seeing all he will do to help students, ‘Begin Here, Go Anywhere.’
